As Founding Partner and Co-CEO of iAngels, Shelly co-leads iAngels across all investment, portfolio management, and client-facing activities. These responsibilities include sourcing deal flow, analyzing investments, contributing to investment committee, creating value for entrepreneurs through the iAngels network, as well as creating valuation methodologies and processes to enhance the iAngels investment process using technology, research, market intelligence, and data. Shelly regularly writes articles and lectures locally and abroad about angel investing, finance, and technology.
Before iAngels, Shelly worked for more than a decade evaluating investment opportunities for investment firms, private individuals and corporations in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Israel.
At Goldman Sachs, Shelly analyzed several high profile M&A, IPO, Private Equity and restructuring transactions in high-tech, telecommunications, Internet, financials, retail and venture, where she was recognized by senior management and industry executives for creative, diligent and disciplined analytics. Her analytics helped shape the execution of corporate transactions and, equally important, steered away investors from deals when the terms of the investments did not offer a favorable risk adjusted return.
Prior to Goldman, Shelly worked as a research analyst at Avenue Capital’s flagship fund, which manages billions of dollars of investment capital. In this position, she identified and analyzed distressed investment opportunities. Noted for her contrarian viewpoints, Shelly put forward analysis that helped Avenue achieve significant investment returns, including a large notable investment in AIG bonds and other financial institutions at the market bottom of the 2008 financial crisis, which were stellar performers for the fund.
Prior to Avenue Capital, she worked at UBS, tailoring investment portfolios for over 100 high net worth individuals in the US based on their risk appetites and personal dispositions, providing principal protection and recurring income throughout market volatility.
Shelly holds an Executive MBA from the Kellogg Recanati Business School and a BA in Economics from Hunter College.
